Magistrate reminds suspects in yellow robes Lord Buddha’s teaching

 

Buddhist priests should follow the teaching of Lord Buddha and act accordingly; they should not create disunity among communities but unite them and teach the lay people what is good and bad said Nugegoda Magistrate Ajith M. Marasinghe when the hearing regarding the attack on Fashionbug at Papiliyana was heard today (2nd). The Magistrate made these observations addressing the suspects in Buddhist priests' robes who had been charged of the attack.

The Magistrate reminded the men in robes that Buddhist priests should always tread the path shown by Lord Buddha. The suspects brought before the Magistrate were Dampahala Rahula of Koralwalla Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Dampahala Gnanarathna of Thelawila Siri Vijaya Dharmayathanaya in Mt. Lavinia, Anuradhapura Palitha of Koralawella Raja Maha Viharaya, T.H.M. Premakumara of Pepiliyana, Sajith Lakmal (owner of communication center) of Pepiliyana, P.K. Chandrasiri (businessman) of Divulapitiya, Prabhath Jayashanthe, E.T. Champika of Divulapitiya, Lalith Dharmapriya of Kohuwala, Ranil Fernando (Three wheel driver) of Boralasgamuwa and Wimal de Silva (temple employee).

 

The Magistrate released all 17 suspects when both parties informed court that they prefer to settle the matter.
