‘Why Islam’ Heading to Brazil

CAIRO – A leading American Muslim group has announced plans for a special da`wah mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the FIFA World Cup from June 12 through July 9, to provide accurate information about Islam to hundreds of thousands of football fans.

Heading to Sao Paulo, WhyIslam, the largest grassroots da`wah project in North America, had many goals in mind to serve Islam and Muslims.

Setting their goals on thier website, the da`wah project managers stated that they wanted to “convey precise and authentic information about Islam through simple, effective, and innovative means of communication”.

Other goals included, “to collaborate with local organizations to strengthen da`wah efforts in Brazil and to inspire the rest of the world/Muslims by demonstrating the importance of da`wah.”

In Sao Paulo, the largest city in Southern America and the world’s 7th and the largest city by population, the Muslim group choose World Cup as the event that draws the attention of millions of people worldwide.

Along with organizing 2014 world cup, Brazil will also host 2016 Olympics, making it an attractive point for those wishing to correct misconceptions about their faith.

The Brazil visit is part of a global da`wah mission that will go across the globe next July 5.

Both events set the slogan of “what’s your goal” to offer answers to people questions about the meaning of life? What is their greater purpose? How should they live my life? and What happens when we die.

Why Islam is one of the outreach projects supported by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA).

The upcoming FIFA World Cup football tournament would run from June 12 to July 13, 2014 in Brazil.

Twelve cities are scheduled to host matches: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manuas, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
