What is Tajweed all about?

The word Tajweed linguistically means 'proficiency' or 'doing something well'. It comes from the same root letters as the word 'Jayyid' in Arabic (meaning 'good'): Jeem, Waw and Daal.

When applied to the Qur'an – it means giving every letter of the Qur'an its rights and dues of characteristics when we recite the Qur'an and observing the rules that apply to those letters in different situations.

Wondering why Tajweed is important?

Did you know that a slight mispronunciation in an Arabic letter can completely change the meaning of the word, in turn, causing the whole ayat to lose its real meaning?

Observing the rules of recitation is not just limited to world renowned Qaris or scholars alone, rather it is an obligation upon each and every one of us whenever we recite the Qur'an.

What's the purpose?

The Qur'an is the word of Allah, and its every syllable is from Allah. Therefore, learning tajweed will make you proficient in reciting the Qur'an – helping you recite each letter with correct pronunciation by applying the rulings and characteristics to each letter, without any exaggeration or deficiency.

So, here's your chance to perfect your tajweed so you can recite the Quran in a manner in which it's meant to be recited! Register Now!
