சுனாமி (tsunami ) அல்லாஹ்வின் மாபெரும் வல்லமை. பாத்திமா ஷஹானா (கொழும்பு)

(அதில்) அல்லாஹ் நாடியதை அழிப்பான். (நாடியதை) அழிக்காது வைப்பான். அவனிடமே தாய் ஏடு உள்ளது. (அல்குர்ஆன் 13:39)

சுனாமி (tsunami) …… ஆறு வருடங்களிற்கு முன் இந்தப் பெயர் நம் நாட்டு மக்களைப் பொருத்த வரை பிரபல்யம் இல்லாத அந்நியமான ஒரு பெயராகவே இருந்தது. ஆனால் இன்று இப் பெயரை கேட்ட மாத்திரத்தில் எல்லோர் மனதிலும் பேரலைகள் அடிக்கத் தொடங்கும். சிறுவர் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை இந்தப் பெயர் பிரபல்யம் வாய்ந்துள்ளது.

டிசெம்பர் 26, 2004 ம் நாள் உலகிலுள்ள அனைவருக்கும் மறக்க முடியாத ஒரு நாள். ஆயிரக் கணக்கிலான உயிர் சேதங்களையும், பல மில்லியன் கணக்கிலான பொருட் சேதங்களையும் ஏற்படுத்திய கொடுரமான நாள். இவ் இயற்கை அனர்த்தங்கள் மூலம் அல்லாஹ் அவனது வல்லமையை நம் கண் முன்;பாக தெளிவாகக் காட்டினான்.

இதிலுள்ள இன்னுமொரு வியக்கத்தக்க விஷயம் என்னவென்றால் சுனாமியின்போது நடுக்கடல் எந்ந வித கொந்தளிப்பும் இல்லாமல் சாதாரணமாகவே இருக்கும். ஆனால், கரையோரத்தை அண்டிய கடற்பிரதேசமே கொந்தளித்து கரையோரத்தைத் தாண்டி பல கிலோ மீற்றர்கள் ஊடுருவி நிலப் பிரதேசத்தை நோக்கி வரக்கூடியதாக உள்ளது. இதற்கு முன் கடல் உள் வாங்கவும் செய்கின்றது. இதை அல்லாஹ்வின் வல்லமை என்றில்லாமல் என்ன சொல்வது?

அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வைக் கண்ணியப்படுத்த வேண்டிய அளவுக்கு கண்ணியப்படுத்தவில்லை. அல்லாஹ் வலிமை மிக்கவன். மிகைத்தவன்.

(அல்குர்ஆன் 22:74)

மேலும், அல்லாஹ் அவனது வல்லமையை பிர்அவ்னுக்கு அவன் ஏற்படுத்திய அழிவை குர்ஆனில் குறிப்பிடுவதன் மூலம் நமக்கு தெளிவுபடுத்துகின்றான்.

ஃபிர்அவ்னின் ஆட்களுக்கும், அவர்களுக்கு முன் சென்றோருக்கும் ஏற்பட்ட கதியைப் போலவே (இவர்களுக்கும் எற்படும்). அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் சான்றுகளை மறுத்தனர். அவர்களது பாவங்களின் காரணமாக அவர்களை அல்லாஹ் தண்டித்தான். அல்லாஹ் வலிமைமிக்கவன். கடுமையாகத் தண்டிப்பவன்.

(அல்குர்ஆன் 8:52)

உலகில் தீமை அதிகரிக்கும்போது அல்லாஹ் இயற்கை அனர்த்தங்களை ஏற்படுத்துவதன் மூலம் வணக்கத்திற்குரியவன் ஒருவன் இருக்கின்றான்;;. அவனுக்கு கட்டுப்பட்டு அனைவரும் வாழ வேண்டும் என்ற விழிப்புணர்வை மக்களுக்கு மத்தியில் ஏற்படுத்துகின்றான். ஆனால், பெரும்பாலான மக்களின் கருத்து தீயவர்களை அழிக்கவே அல்லாஹ் இத்தகைய இயற்கை அனர்த்தங்களை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றான் என்பது. எனவே, இவ்வாறான அனர்த்தங்களில் அழிபவர்கள் தீயவர்களே என வாதிடுகின்றனர். இது முற்றிலும் தவறாகும். பின்வரும் ஹதீஸில் இருந்து இது தெளிவாக நமக்குப் புரியும்.

ஸைனப் பின்த் ஜஹ்ஷ் (ரலி) அவர்கள் கூறியதாவது:

(ஒருநாள்) நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் தூக்கத்திலிருந்து முகம் சிவந்த நிலையில் (பின்வருமாறு) கூறியபடியே எழுந்தார்கள்: வணக்கத்திற்குரியவர் அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர வேறெவருமில்லை. நெருங்கிவிட்ட ஒரு தீமையின் காரணமாக அரபுகளுக்குக் கேடுதான். இன்று யஃஜூஜ், மஃஜூஜ் கூட்டத்தாரின் தடுப்புச் சுவரிலிருந்து இந்த அளவிற்குத் திறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அறிவிப்பாளர் சுஃப்யான் (ரஹ்) அவர்கள் ("இந்த அளவிற்கு' என்று கூறியபோதுஇ தமது கை விரல்களால் அரபி எண் வடிவில்) 90 அல்லது 100 என்று மடித்துக் காட்டினார்கள்.-

அப்போது "நல்லவர்கள் நம்மிடையே இருக்கும்போதுமா நமக்கு அழிவு ஏற்படும்?'' என்று வினவப்பட்டது. அதற்கு நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் "ஆம். தீமை பெருத்துவிட்டால்'' என்று பதிலளித்தார்கள் (புஹாரி 7059)

எனவே, இயற்கை அனர்த்தங்கள் நல்லவர்களுக்கும், தீயவர்களுக்கும் சேர்த்தே சோதனையாக அமையும். நபியவர்கள் காலத்திலேயே குழப்பங்களை அல்லாஹ் இறக்கி வைக்கக்கூடியவனாக இருந்தான். பின்வரும் ஹதீஸில் முஹம்மது நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் தம் மனைவியர்களையும் எழும்பி தொழுமாறு ஏவுகின்றார்கள். எனவே அல்லாஹ் ஏற்படுத்தும் சோதனையிலிருந்து நல்லவர், தீயவர் அனைவருமே தம்மைக் காப்பாற்றிக் கொள்ள கடமைப்பட்டிருக்கின்றனர்.

நபி(ஸல்) அவர்களின் துணைவியார் உம்மு ஸலமா(ரலி) அறிவித்தார்.

ஒரு(நாள்) இரவில் இறைத்தூதர்(ஸல்) அவர்கள் (திடீரென) பதற்றத்துடன் விழித்தெழுந்து 'அல்லாஹ் தூயவன்! (இன்றிரவு) அல்லாஹ் இறக்கிவைத்த கருவூலங்கள் தாம் என்ன! (இன்றிரவு) இறக்கி வைக்கப்பட்ட குழப்பங்கள் தாம் என்ன! -தம் துணைவியரை மனத்தில் கொண்டு – இந்த அறைகளிலுள்ள பெண்களை எழுப்பி விடுகிறவர் யார்? அவர்கள் (அல்லாஹ்வைத்) தொழட்டும்! ஏனெனில் இவ்வுலகில் உடையணிந்திருக்கும் எத்தனையோ பெண்கள் மறுவுலகில் நிர்வாணிகளாய் இருப்பார்கள்' என்று கூறினார்கள்.

(புஹாரி 7069)

தீயவர்களுக்கு மட்டும் அல்லாஹ் அழிவை ஏற்படுத்துவதென்றால் அது மறுமை ஏற்படும் நாளாகத் தான் இருக்க வேண்டும்.

அபூமூசா (ரலி) அவர்கள் கூறியதாவது:

நான் அப்துல்லாஹ் பின் மஸ்ஊத் (ரலி) அவர்களிடம், "கொலைகள் மலிந்த காலம் வரும் என்று மேற்கண்டவாறு நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறிய காலத்தை நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள்'' என்றேன். அப்போது அப்துல்லாஹ் பின் மஸ்ஊத் (ரலி) அவர்கள் (கூடுதலாகப் பின்வருமாறு) சொன்னார்கள்: யார் உயிரோடு இருக்கும்போது அவர்களை மறுமைநாள் வந்தடைகிறதோ அவர்கள்தாம் மக்கüலேயே தீயோர் ஆவர் என நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் சொல்ல நான் கேட்டிருக்கிறேன் (புஹாரி 7067)

அல்லாஹ் இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையை சோதனைக் களமாகவே அமைத்துள்ளான்.

அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர் (ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள்:

யாருக்கு அல்லாஹ் நன்மையை நாடுகின் றானோ அவரை (சத்திய) சோதனைக்கு உள்ளாக்குகின்றான். (புஹாரி 5645)

நம் செயல்களின் மூலமே அல்லாஹ் நாம் சுவர்க்கத்திற்குரியவர்களா? அல்லது நரகத்திற்குரியவர்களா? என்பதைத் தீர்மானிப்பான்.

உங்களுக்குத் தவறி விட்டதற்காக நீங்கள் கவலைப்படாமல் இருப்பதற்காகவும், அவன் உங்களுக்கு வழங்கியதில் நீங்கள் பூரித்துப் போகாமல் இருப்பதற்காகவும், (விதியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளான்) கர்வமும் பெருமையும் கொண்ட ஒவ்வொருவரையும் அல்லாஹ் நேசிக்க மாட்டான். (அல்குர்ஆன் 57:23)

ஓரளவு அச்சத்தாலும், பசியாலும் செல்வங்கள், உயிர்கள், மற்றும் பலன்களைச் சேதப்படுத்தியும் உங்களைச் சோதிப்போம். பொறுத்துக் கொண்டோருக்கு நற்செய்தி கூறுவீராக!

(அல்குர்ஆன் 2:155)

நாம் சோதனைகள் வரும்போது பொறுமையாக அல்லாஹ்விடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்து நம் அத்தனை க~;டங்கள், கவலைகள், துயரங்கள் என்பவற்றை அல்லாஹ்விடமே முறையிட வேண்டும். அல்லாஹ்வே நம்மை பொறுப்பேற்றுக் கொள்ளப் போதுமானவன் என்ற முழு நம்பிக்கையுடன் அல்லாஹ்விடம் இறைஞ்சி பிரார்த்திக்க வேண்டும்.

இப்னு அப்பாஸ் (ரலி) அவர்கள் கூறியதாவது:

(இறைத்தூதர்) இப்ராஹீம் (அலை) அவர்கள் தீயில் தூக்கி எறியப்பட்டபோது அல்லாஹ் எங்களுக்குப் போதுமானவன்; அவனே பொறுப்பேற்றுக்கொள்வோரில் சிறந்தவன்'' என்று கூறினார்கள். இதே வார்த்தைகளை முஹம்மத் (ஸல்) அவர்கள்இ "நிச்சயமாக (மீண்டும் தாக்குதல் தொடுக்க எதிர்த்தரப்பு) மக்கள் உங்களுக்கெதிராக அணிதிரண்டுள்ளனர்; எனவேஇ அவர்களுக்கு அஞ்சுங்கள்'' என மக்கள் (சிலர்) கூறியபோது சொன்னார்கள். இ(வ்வாறு அச்சுறுத்திய)து அவர்களுக்கு நம்பிக்கையை மேலும் அதிக மாக்கியது. "எங்களுக்கு அல்லாஹ் போது மானவன்; அவனே பொறுப்பேற்றுக் கொள்வோரில் சிறந்தவன்'' என்றும் அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள். (புஹாரி 4563)

இஸ்லாத்தைப் பொருத்த வரை இறந்தவர்களுக்காக துக்கம் அனுஷ்டிப்பது மூன்று நாட்களுக்காகும். ஆனால், இன்று சுனாமி தினத்தை வருடந்தோறும் துக்க தினமாக முஸ்லிம்கள் உட்பட அனைவரும் அனுஷ்டிப்பது கேலிக்குரிய நிகழ்வாக உள்ளது.

உம்மு அத்திய்யா நுஸைபா பின்த் அல்ஹாரிஸ் (ரலி) அவர்கள் கூறியதாவது:

இறந்து விட்டவர்களுக்காக மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு மேல் (அலங்காரம்இ நறுமணம் உள்ளிட்டவற்றைக் கைவிட்டு) துக்கம் கடைப்பிடிக்கக் கூடாதென நாங்கள் (நபியவர்களால்) தடைவிதிக்கப்பட்டோம். ஆனால் (கணவருக்காக அவர் இறந்தபின் அவருடைய) மனைவி நான்கு மாதம் பத்து நாட்கள் (துக்கம் கடைபிடிப்பதைத்) தவிர! (அதாவது இந்த நாட்கüல்) நாங்கள் (கண்ணில்) அஞ்சனம் தீட்டவோஇ நறுமணம் பூசவோ சாயமிட்ட ஆடைகளை அணிவதோ கூடாது. ஆனால் நெய்வதற்கு முன் நூ-ல் சாயமிடப்பட்ட (அஸ்ப் எனும்) ஆடையைத் தவிர! (அதை அணிந்துகொள்ளலாம்.) (புகாரி 313)

எனவே, இயற்கை அனர்த்தங்கள் உட்டபட்ட அல்லாஹ்வால் ஏற்படுத்தப்படும் அனைத்து சோதனைகளுக்கும் பொறுமையை மேற் கொண்டு அவனிடமே பிரார்த்திக்க வேண்டும். இச் சோதனைகளை அல்லாஹ் தீயவர்களுக்கு மட்டும் தான் ஏற்படுத்துவான் என்ற தவறான எண்ணத்தை மனதிலிருந்து அகற்றி அந்நாளை ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் துக்க தினமாக அனு~;டிப்பதை விட்டொழித்து அல்லாஹ்வின் தூய மார்க்கத்தில் நிலைத்திருப்போமாக!

U.N. Chief Names Advisory Panel on War Abuses in Sri Lanka, by Thalif Deen

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 22, 2010 (IPS) – Defying a challenge by the government of Sri Lanka, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday named a three-member panel of experts to advise him on how he should proceed with investigating violations of human rights and humanitarian law during the concluding stages of that country's long-drawn-out separatist war last May.

"The secretary-general has all the authority he needs to name a panel of advisers," U.N. spokesperson Martin Nesirky told reporters, without spelling out where the authority originated.

The Sri Lankan government repeatedly took the position the U.N. charter does not provide the secretary-general the legitimate right to appoint a panel of experts to probe human rights violations.

The creation of the panel was also not authorised by the Human Rights Council, the General Assembly or the Security Council.

Nesirky pointed out the panel is an "advisory panel limited to advising the secretary-general".

"It is not a fact-finding or investigative body," he added.

Asked whether the experts would interview witnesses, Nesirky said the panel has no plans to visit Sri Lanka – an act that would require the consent of a strongly antagonistic government.

"Whether the results of its work would be made public would be at the secretary-general's discretion," he added.

The three members of the panel are Marzuki Darusman of Indonesia as chair, along with Yasmin Sooka of South Africa and Steven Ratner of the United States.

The panel is expected to advise the secretary-general on "implementing the commitment on human rights accountability" made in a joint statement issued by Ban and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa after the U.N. chief visited the island nation in May 2009.

Rajapaksa, who scored an overwhelming victory in recent elections, primarily on the strength of his military's defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), has consistently denied charges of war crimes and violations of humanitarian law.

"Our troops carried a gun in one hand and the human rights charter in the other," he said last week, claiming that the military did not "fire at a single civilian".

The United Nations, however, has said that an estimated 7,000 or more civilians were killed during the height of the battle that continued for over three decades. International human rights groups have also accused the military of executing LTTE rebels even as they surrendered.

An unidentified Sri Lankan official was quoted as saying the government was "unhappy with the appointment of the panel" which was "unwarranted and uncalled for".

During a visit to the United Nations last month, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Gamini Lakshman Peiris said the appointment of the panel would be "unprecedented" – more so, he said, because it lacks the blessings of the Security Council, the General Assembly or the Human Rights Council.

"This is politically unacceptable to Sri Lanka," Peiris told IPS.

He also said Sri Lanka has already appointed its own commission of inquiry to investigate charges made against the military.

"The appointment of a panel by the secretary-general at this stage would be premature," he warned last month.

Nesirky told reporters Tuesday that in the secretary- general's view, the primary responsibility for investigating what happened in Sri Lanka is with that country's government.

Responding to a question, he said that Marzuki also has a role as special rapporteur dealing with human rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Still, Marzuki had made clear he has time to accomplish both tasks.

Asked about the funding for the panel, Nesirky said it would be paid out of funds available to the secretary-general for "unforeseen expenses".

Marzuki is a former attorney general of Indonesia, a member of the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights and, most recently, served as one of the three commissioners of the U.N. commission of inquiry into the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Sooka is the executive director of the Foundation for Human Rights in South Africa and served as a commissioner on the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and as an international commissioner on the Sierra Leone Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Ratner, who is a professor at the University of Michigan Law School, was a former member of the U.N. Group of Experts for Cambodia, whose work laid the basis for the Khmer Rouge trials.

The panel has a four-month deadline to complete its mandate from the day it starts work.

The three experts will examine the modalities, applicable international standards and comparative experience with regard to accountability processes, taking into account the nature and scope of any alleged violations in Sri Lanka, according to a U.N. statement released Tuesday.

Mosque was Attacked During Prayer at Melsiripura

A group of Muslims who were praying in the Ambanpola Muslim mosque in Malsiripura was attacked yesterday night (20) , and the mosque premises too was damaged.

A Muslim clergy of the area said , about 200 individuals stormed into the mosque and attacked the people who were at prayers . In order to save their lives , the victims had fled . Several of them had been injured , while the mosque too was extensively damaged.

This mosque has been in existence for over 20 years . When the Muslim religious dignitaries got ready to enlarge the mosque , a group in the area who are not Muslims had opposed , as a result the extension of the mosque was stopped. Later , the Buddha Sasana Ministry had given the permission to extend the mosque , when this unfortunate incident occurred.
To safeguard the peace of the area , massive Police security was posted around the mosque.

Hajj delegation runs into storm

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, which has been shrouded in corruption has allegedly defied instructions by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to revise the five-member official delegation to be sent to Saudi Arabia to make arrangements for the forthcoming Hajj Pilgrimage.

The initial five-member delegation, comprising Minister A.H.M. Fowzie (head of delegation), S. Alavi Moulana (Governor of the Western Province), Y.L.M. Navavi (Director, Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs), Rizmy Riyal and M.R.M. Farook (two Hajj Travel Operators) was asked to be revised to include Deputy Minister of Environment Faiszer Musthafa and former Deputy Mayor of Colombo Azath Salley amidst allegations of corruption.

It is learnt that the President had wanted Musthafa and Salley added to the delegation as there had been complaints that hajj operators were charging exorbitant rates and were not providing the duly promised accommodation and food to the pilgrims. The delegation was also asked to request an enhanced allocation of a 5,000 visa quota for Lankan Hajj Pilgrims from the current 2,500.

“Y.L.M. Navavi was asked to revise the list of delegations to include the two new members. However, he defied instructions and instead made phone calls minutes before departure claiming not to know of the change,” said an official. “He then proceeded to leave to the Kingdom on May 11 with Fowzie after which Alavi Moulana followed the next day. The two operators were omitted from the list and neither were the new members included.”

Deputy Mayor Azath Salley left for the Kingdom to join the current delegation last week. However, Deputy Minister of Environment Faiszer Musthafa who was supposed to be part of the delegation returned on Friday without taking part in meetings with officials in Saudi Arabia.

“These approved officers of the initial delegation had been to hajj more than five times in the past claiming the full allowance of Rs. 450,000 each year, whilst only giving the pilgrims a meagre allowance in Saudi,” added the source. “In the meantime, the current mechanism to send pilgrims to hajj from Sri Lanka is so unregulated that many people have misused this to go for business as opposed to allowing hundreds of willing Sri Lankans the opportunity to perform Hajj.”

It is said that hajj operators currently claim more than Rs.400,000 to send a pilgrim on a five-day pilgrimage to Makkah and Medina, while others have said the pilgrimage could be done for much less.

Y.L.M Navavi is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka with the rest of the delegation on (17).

Sarah Malani Perea-treated with respect

A three member team which visited the Mirihana Police on Monday 12 April l 2010 found that the allegation that Sarah Malani Perera was ill treated was false. Instead, according to Sarah Malini Perera, she had been treated with respect and dignity and provided with all required facilities.

The team which included Senior Journalists Hamza Haniffa ,Latheef Farook and community activist Dr Zurfick Ghouse visited Mirihana Police where Sarah Malani Perera was detained .The purpose of the visit was not only find out first hand her condition besides ensuring that the controversy surrounding her detention was not exploited by unscrupulous elements to pit the Sinhalese against Muslims.

They were received very well by officers at all levels who took time to explain in detail the manner she was treated .They all said that the delay in finalizing her issue was due to last week’s parliamentary elections which kept the police busy as that had to work round the clock.

When the team asked whether they could meet Sarah Malani and talk to her in person to find what really had happened the officer concerned gave immediate instruction to bring her.

She entered our room, dressed in black abaya and headscarf, with all graciousness and greeted us with salaams. When asked what really had happened she had this to say;

She had written and published with her money two books-From Darkness to Light and Questions and Answers. One book is a comparative study of five different religions and one among them is Buddhism. In fact was a comparative study and was an intellectual exercise. It was not aimed at criticizing any religion in keeping with the strict Islamic teachings which strictly forbids any form of, mild or otherwise, insult of other religions and those who practice it.

She went to courier service ARAMEX office in Colombo suburbs to send some copies of these books to Bahrain. The officer concerned was very polite and she did not find any hostility towards her although later he started questioning whether she was a Sinhalese and then converted to Islam .Though irrelevant to the ARAMEX official whose duty was only to send the cargo and do the documentation Sarah Malani answered all his questions and left the office to bring the balance following as the money was insufficient to pay for the cargo. She the discussions were pleasant even at the point of her leaving the office.

She visited the ARAMEX office following with the required money and even presented copies of her these two books to the officer with whom she was dealing there and told him clearly to read the book in full to understand it properly and not to take out of context.

After completing all formalities with regard to her cargo she left the ARAMEX office. Even at that point the officer concerned was very pleasant with her.

Stepping out of the ARAMEX office she was met with a person in civil who inquired about her name and stopped for while before started talking on mobile and giving the direction of the ARAMEX office. Then the vehicle came and she was brought to the Mirihana Police.

She was shocked and surprised. Obviously the ARAMEX officer who pretended to be friendly had informed the police. However as a person with strong faith in Allah she decided to accept what was going on.

She claims she has not done anything wrong and the police officers treated well there up-to-date she is confident that she would be released within days as there is nothing to be accused of under any law.

“Pray for me” is the only answer with a pleasant smile and confidence when we asked whether she needs any assistance from us.

Meanwhile police officials said routine inquiries have been underway and it is matter of days before this issue was solved.

Concerned Muslims (there were just a few of them) expressed shock that the plight of this sister in Islam had not evoked concern by fellow Muslims in the Island. As a writer in a Sunday paper remarked:”While the case of Rifca Barry in the USA had been taken up by a host of Muslim lawyers ,in the case of Sarah there were no Muslim lawyers to help her”.

The Prophet(sal) had said that the Muslims were like one body,if one part felt pain ,the whole body would feel it”. Unfortunately at the present time, as seen vividly in the case of Sarah brotherhood and sisterhood seem to be a thing of the past. Muslims seem to have become like the Israelites of old who told the Prophets when confronted with enemies “you and god go and fight the battle…”

Muslim apathy and indifference is unbelievable, and if this situation continues we are in for great disaster .May Allah guide us all!

501 Tamil-Muslim students honoured in Kattankudy today, By: S.M.M. Ramzan

The function to honour 501 Tamil-Muslim students who have passed the ‘Grade V’ Scholarship Examination in Tamil Medium from the Ampara, Batticaloa and Polannaruwa districts is held today at the Hisbullah Cultural Centre in Kattankudy.

185 students from the Ampara district, 307 students from the Batticaloa district and 09 students from the Polonnaruwa district will be honoured at this function where the Batticaloa Central Zonal Director of Education U.L.M. Zainulabdeen has been invited as Chief Guest. This programme is sponsored by the World Assembly of Youths (WAMY).

The education development forum (EDF) of Sri Lanka is conducting this programme every year through out Sri Lanka and this is the 6^th of its kind. The 5^th programme was held at the Athullah auditorium in Akkaraipattu last year.
